Founded in 1869 by formerly enslaved men and women, New Hope A.M.E. Church has served Atlanta’s Buckhead community as a place of worship, education, fellowship, and belonging for 157 years.

New Hope and its historic cemetery have been recognized as a City of Atlanta Landmark Building/Site. While this designation honors the church’s historical significance, it does not fund the work required to preserve and restore the property.

Unsafe conditions currently prevent the congregation from worshipping in the historic sanctuary. Restoration is also needed to protect the building’s historic character, improve accessibility, renew essential systems, and rehabilitate the Life Center for continued ministry and community service.

Their Faith. Our Foundation. is a $3 million preservation and restoration campaign created to protect this sacred landmark and carry its legacy forward.
